Personality The current year is confusing to Phyre whose last long-term period of activity was over one hundred years ago. Modern technology is a completely foreign concept and the sheer amount of changes is something he is still coming to terms with; at times, he can be irritable about the situation he has found himself in. The mark on his hand limiting his power also has a tendency to incite anger within him. Aside from these irritants, he keeps a mostly even keel. One does not survive for over 400 years on a hair-trigger temper. With thought behind his actions and planning before he moves, the elder Nomad does his best to keep his wits and head about him.

Though Phyre behaves much like an Autarkis, living on the fringes of society and widely avoiding clan politics, he still respects the authority of the Camarilla upon entering a domain to pay respects to the Prince and to ask for permission to move freely through the city. He finds it causes less trouble and drama than simply passing though and answering the questions later. He is also more prone to align himself with the Camarilla simply due to his hatred and disdain for the Sabbat.

Appearance Phyre stands roughly six feet tall with blood red eyes and needle-like pupils. His body is marred with marks of the Sabbat, controlling glyphs that restrain his powers and render him weaker than the power the age of his blood would otherwise grant. While his time in Seattle has given him ample opportunity to amass a variety of outfits, he currently wears a Magister's coat with embroidered pants and a waistchain. He wears dark black eyeshadow and eyeliner with black nailpolish.

Backstory Phyre is the modern pseudonym of a powerful nomadic vampire, originating from the Balkans and eventually embraced in Constantinople. He left Constantinople in 1633 during the Cibali Fires where many Kindred were destroyed. He escaped wars over the mortal crowns of Spain, England, Poland and Austria, and several purges and plots in the courts of the Kindred. Stories have been spoken of the elder as a destroyer, others as an omen of doom. The Nomad arrived in Seattle from Damascus in the early 20th century, fleeing his enemies; he went into torpor around the 1920s for the next hundred years. In 2024, the Malkavian detective Fabien uncovered his coffin in an abandoned warehouse and opened it, unleashing the torpid elder upon him who unfortunately diablerized him in frenzy after his century of slumber. Following Fabien's destruction, Phyre went on a rampage across the city causing mayhem which the Anarchs used to strike at the Seattle Camarilla's leadership.

Several days later, Phyre regained consciousness and found that Fabien's own soul and conscience had survived within him, speaking with the elder in his mind. Upon seeing a band poster in the abandoned building he had awoken in, the Nomad adopted the pseudonym "Phyre." Fabien advised Phyre on the modern world and the politics of the city through his own knowledge, and the Nomad began a quest to find who had placed marks upon him in during his torpor, and why.

Further Details Due Phyre having a limited backstory in the game, some of his history has been filled in which can be found below.

Phyre is a Noddist scholar: while he isn't horrified by the Sabbat, he is extremely contemptuous of them. He finds them undisciplined, like rabid animals running wild. When he gives a reason for his hatred, it's theological; Phyre objects to their understanding of Caine, or to Safia using the Sabbat for her own drama unrelated to the Dark Father. Noddism was suppressed by the Camarilla for most of its history, and Phyre wasn't welcome in the Sabbat for most of his, so he had to have a more than casual interest to have picked up enough to know Sabbat dogma is confused.

Due to Phyre having no reaction to learning of the Tremere Pyramid collapsing, he is likely a rogue Tremere. The backstory chosen for the character reflects this. In-game for the Tremere bloodline, one of the options is "I was a charlatan" - this is the backstory selected for Phyre as well: that he was embraced by a Tremere who took offense to his flashy use of "magic" and chicanery to make an example of him. This results in (understandable) friction between sire and childe and in turn causes Phyre to become rogue from House Tremere.

The title of "Nomad" probably doesn't just refer to him being merely a traveller but the fact that his Disciplines allow him to glide, jump around rooftops, and teleport around which means that he has several abilities devoted to escaping which have helped him survive the centuries.

At the time of waking from torpor, Phyre's Humanity score is likely around 2 due to him having been in torpor for a century and the massive amount of death he caused in his wake: specifically the mass murders that caused him to be branded "the Butcher of Cairo." This is the reason for his crazy looking eyes and other inhuman qualities as well as his complete and utter lack of compassion and his psychopathic tendencies. It can be inferred that Fabien actually increases Phyre's humanity over the course of the game due to their merging personalities and souls. Phyre is very dead emotionally when he wakes but gradually regains some of it. Depending on his canonpoint he will be either be extremely cold or more receptive to mortal emotion.
